The beanstalk that goes up
Will take you
To the giant’s house
The beanstalk that goes down
Will take you
To the fairy garden
The beanstalk
In the sandbox
Will take you
To the sand castle
The sand castle
Is surrounded
By the ocean moat
And the ocean moat
Is filled with fish
And the fish
Are the friends
Of the mermaids
And the mermaids
Ride the seahorses
And the seahorses
Are friends
With the real horses
Who are ridden
By princesses
Galloping into battle
Against jabberwockies
And wabberjockies
And all manners of monsters
That live beyond
The ocean moats
The beanstalk
That’s sideways
Will take you
To the moon
The beanstalk
That’s diagonal
Will take you
To the land
Of tic, tac, toe
You can play against
The troll
That told all the riddles
Until the riddles were solved
And now he only deals
In ‘O’s and ‘X’s
And lives in Texas
So the stalk
Can take you
To Texas
Where the Dust Dogs live
And the Coyote Cats
And the cowboys who ride
Tornadoes
Like the mermaids
Ride the seahorses
And the seahorses
Eat the flowers
That grow
From the beanstalk
But only the one
That comes from
The sandbox
The beanstalk
That’s green
Will take you
To the jungle
The beanstalk
That’s blue
Will take you
To the lake
The beanstalk
That makes
A rustling noise
Will take you
To a land
That’s full of toys
And those toys
Make a noise
That sounds like
The rustling
Of the beanstalk leaves
But nobody believes
The leaves
Are the ones
Making the noise
The beanstalk
That moves
Will take you
To a traveling carnival
Where you can ride
The Ocean Moat Boat
Which will take you
Around the Sand Castle
That is not the Sand Castle
Like the one you can get to
Via the sandbox
But a different one
That is a replica--
That is to say
A copy
Of that sandbox
And so there are no fish
In the ocean moat
And the boat
Won’t show you mermaids
On seahorses
But you will see the wishes
That are thrown
In the ocean moat
As you travel by boat
The beanstalk
That’s a mile wide
Will take you
High then higher
Then the highest
You’ve ever been
Past the giant’s house
Past the moon
Past the stars
Far, far, far
From there it’ll take you
Wherever you wish to go
But nobody knows
Where that could be
Well, nobody
But you
And me
Provided you tell me
If you wish
But first throw the wish
In the ocean boat moat
That’s the only way
It can come true
A beanstalk starts
As a sand castle wish
Provided it’s not eaten
By a sand castle fish
When it reaches
The sand castle
That isn’t in
The moving amusement park
And provided
It isn’t struck down in the battle
Of the princesses
And the wabberjockies
And the rockiejabjabs
And the cab-key-donkeys
But if it gets past
All of that
It’ll be quite a sight
As it heads to the night
And waits for you
To climb it
But that’s just one
Kind of beanstalk
And there are so many
To climb
And scale
And hang from
And lay down on
And dig up
And dream of
The beanstalk that goes up
Will take you to the giant’s house
But there are so many
Other places
To go
But that’s up to you
I guess you could say
And there are new beanstalks
Growing
Every
Day
