Two monkeys met a tiger
Walking through
The jungle
The monkeys ran up
The nearest trees
And kept their distance
From the tiger
The monkeys surmised
That they were looking
At a one-year-old
Tiger
The monkeys knew
That one is the age of sweetness
For most tigers
The monkeys were sure
That if they came down
From the tree they would not be eaten
By the tiger
The monkeys came down
And they introduced themselves
And offered a banana
To the tiger
The monkeys were glad
To see the banana gobbled up
By the tiger
The monkeys walked
Down to the clearing
Where all the animals play
So they could play with the tiger
The monkeys explained
How to play
A game called ‘I’m a Lion’
To the tiger
The monkeys love the game
Because it lets them be a lion
Which is something like being a tiger
The monkeys ran through the forest
Roaring and being Kings
Of the jungle
Alongside the tiger
The monkeys thought
That their playmate
Was doing a very good job
Even though he’s was a tiger
The monkeys ran all the way
To the Tallest Tree and back
Then fell on the back of the tiger
The monkeys offered
To get more bananas
And bring them
For the tiger
The monkeys felt
That they were brother and sister
To their new friend
The tiger
The monkeys gathered
All the bananas in the trees
And gave them to the tiger
The monkeys asked
If there was a Mom or Dad
That was looking for
The tiger
The monkeys were scared
To go to the place where
The big cats live
But that would be home for the tiger
The monkeys guided
Their friend through the jungle
The banana-loving tiger
The monkeys reached
The Big Cat Cove
And all the cats growled at them
But then they saw the tiger
The monkeys saw
A Mom and Dad
Come down and hug
The Baby Tiger
The monkeys were happy
That the family was reunited
And that they could help the tiger
The monkeys returned
To their spot
In the jungle
And tried to forget the tiger
The monkeys had a hard time
Not remembering their new friend
And then they heard the sound
Of the footsteps of a tiger
The monkeys saw
That their friend had come back
Because the best friend you can have is a tiger
The monkeys decided
That the three
Would always play together
The two monkeys and the tiger
The monkeys knew
It was an unusual friendship
But so are most great friendships
Especially friendships with a tiger
The monkeys are still in charge
Of getting the bananas
For their good friend the tiger
The monkeys don’t mind
Because it’s so much fun
To be friends with
A tiger
