The dogs are asleep
We'll never have children
Because we can't master dogs
They make noise and run around and destroy
All without checking with us first
Reminding us that even together we have limited control
Over other, smaller beings
Because ultimately our unconditional love
Brings appreciation instead of ambition
And we decide to let sleeping dogs lie
