Don't Get Confused

Don't think it's the sea air
Making you feel this way
Or the sway of the waves
Crashing up on the stone wall
Separating you
From the pull of the moon

Don't believe it's the need
To be with someone who believes in art
For a higher power
When you sour on him
You'll wonder why you denied
The blunders written within his skin
Even as you stared at its lines
And faded markings

Don't get caught up
Stuck in convincing
The glimpsing eyes of friends
That you're not at it again
With men who serve
The weaker you

You shouldn't do that
Don't get confused

I'm sure it's his eyes
And not his arms
The charm wears off
So that can't be what makes you
Break promises and engagements
Engaging yourself in convos
On music
How much you love music
All you know about music
Which
Let's face it
Isn't much

Don't get confused
Into thinking
It's his intelligence
Other gents have shown
They've grown way past him
In the smarts department
But they're not hot enough
To cool you down
So schoolyard choosing
Rears its rigid rules
Fooling you into opting
For popping the question

To a prom king
To a homecoming prince
To a loser

You can love a loser
But know that's what he is
Don't get confused
Use your sight
Be right when you know
You're wrong

Hear the song of the sea air
As you watch him toss his hair
And ask you questions
About what you think of him
And try to pull yourself away

It's not the day for that
It's time to let
Your mind go loose

But you can still be happy
The confused usually are
