Don't You Know You're Going Down?

Don't you see the seagulls?
Don't you see the swirling tides?
Don't you see the breakfast plates?
Don't you see the rollercoaster
Running off the tracks?

Don't you know you're going?
Don't you know you're going down?

Don't you feel the crippling?
Don't you feel the pull?
Don't you feel the deluge?
Don't you feel the prickling
Skipping up your skin?

Don't you know you're going?
Don't you know you're going down?

Just going to sit on that bench and cross your arms
Just going to lay back and let it all fall over you
Just going to drum up the interest in your own demise
By catching a couple of sets of eyes

Going to carry that kitten
Away from the fire

Going to walk towards the castle
Away from the field

Going to stand in a bombed out building
And guess at where the pictures hung

Are you going to let the naked lady
Take her blanket back to the beach
And away from your karma?

Are you really seeing all these things?
Does it matter?
Doesn't it matter more
That you're just sitting there

Falling into the tornado
And hoping it takes you away
To some other Oz
Without witches
And flying monkeys?

Don't you know you're going?
Don't you know you're going down?

Don't you know the difference
Between down and out?
