Glitter Makes You a Woman

Big sunglasses help
Heels help
Hats that fall down
Over your face help

But glitter, darling
Glitter makes you a woman

It makes your skin sparkle
It makes you look like an endeavor
It almost says--

If you want to play with me
You're going to have to shake me off afterwards

Roll yourself in glitter, darling

Shine like a cookie
Fresh out of the oven

Get a little burnt on your edges
Make 'em work
To get to the heart of you

Paint pictures on your fingernails
Make 'em like stained glass windows
Have 'em tell tales of your sexual exploits
And write the names of the men
Who have broken hearts because of you

Get it all dirty, darling
Get it all messy and sticky
And let the light hit it
Whenever you move

Glitter, girl, glitter makes you a woman

Gaudy colors
Colors that don't even exist
Outside of the big box of Crayolas
The ones only true artists use

Let these be your only colors
Let them wash out all the primaries
On your palette

Bawdy jewelry
Necklaces that go down to your toes
Pinkie rings and Cleopatra earrings
Wear a bracelet weighed down my charms

You can never have too much charm
Or too much glitter

It's like saying you can be too much of a woman
It's impossible
You can never be enough of a woman

And glitter, darling
Glitter makes you a woman
