Polly remembers it like it was yesterday
But to pandas, the concept of 'yesterday'
Is sort of like the concept of people
You know it's there
You just don't know what to do about it
The angel came down to her
At exactly two in the morning
The hour Polly refers to
'Four hours before I eat' time
Time is measured in food
Food is measured in buckets
Deena serves the food
Deena will die in the wild
These are things Polly understands
Until the angel appears
It tells her that she has been chosen
To bring a life onto the earth
She thinks that the angel is referring to an elephant
For they are the greatest creatures known to man
And the thought of an elephant coming out of her
Was enough to make Polly want to crawl back into her faux cave
But the angel told her not to be afraid
'It will not be an elephant'
She was relieved
But she also wanted the angel to leave
Before the people showed up
Got scared
Ran away
And threw her feeding schedule off
But the angel kept talking
'You,' she said, 'will give birth to a savior'
That was when Polly knew
That she would not be going back to China
