Which Of Your Two Faces Am I Talking To?

Before we start talking
I should ask this
When I just kissed you
Tell me
Who did I kiss?

Was I kissing the angel
Who's never done wrong
Or been anything
Other than strong

Was I laying it on
To some virginified lips
Is that why I tripped on my words
When I slipped out absurdly
Over emotional statements?

Or was I kissing the sketchball
Who texts one thing
And says another
Other people telling me
He's not who he seems to be
Making me think that the package deal
Had some shit sealed in it
That I didn't sign off on

Go on
Tell me

Who was I kissing?
And who did I just
Utter deep feeling to?

What should I do
If it turns out you
Are not the personality
I wanted
If you're not that you

Tell me

Which of your two faces am I talking to?

The one who wants to date messes
But won't confess as much
The one with the light touch
Or the one with the rough side
Who bribes with a smile
And for awhile passed as fragile

The one who never sets his status
Who likes things in the short-term
Sets all the terms and the rules
For the fools who believe what he unspools
Unraveling the traveling salesman pitch
For every bitch who thinks they landed themselves
A fresh little angel straight from heaven

Well go ahead, tell me
Am I getting the lie
Or the truth?

Which of your two faces am I talking to?

Are you the one who thinks
That he's better than me
Are you the one who believes
That I'm beneath you
Or the you
That you've managed to present
Demoting doting followers
To flower petals on your doorstep

Are you the one who lets people reflect
As they gaze at the expression
That you call a face
They can place themselves inside your eyes
And never get that they're fake

You let them do the work
So you're never the jerk
And when they head off on a plane
Back to eight states away
You gain an extra bit of sand
In your confidence hourglass
And don't feel like an ass
When you pass their name in your phone
On the way to another asshole
So you're never alone

But before I say all this
To an ear that doesn't deserve to hear it
Can you at least give me a clue?

Tell me
Which of your two faces am I talking to?
