The Last Time We Do This

--will be the last time

--we do this

No more midnight phone calls
No more bumping into each other
And telling ourselves
It's serendipity

No more 'agains'
I've had enough 'agains'

We're not doing this--again

It's understandable
We invested so much
So much time
And it seems like a waste
To just say--

'No, this isn't going to happen'

'No, we've just been throwing away our time'

So we keep coming back
We keep doing this
We keep having it good
For two or three weeks
Until we suddenly stop being so forgetful
And remember that it's not going to work
That it's never going to work

This has to be the last time we do this
Because...

Because I'm not just doing it for anymore

The last mistake has resulted
In a much, much bigger mistake

But it's a mistake I'm going to stick by
Not for overly political reasons
I'm just very aware that I've spent a lot of time
With a guy who is not going to work out
And I don't how much time I have left
To find someone who will
And in the meantime
I would like to check something off the bucket list

You know I can take care of this

I'm getting promoted next month
And I looked into getting a condo in Warwick
Between my eight sisters
I'm sure I'll have plenty of babysitters
